GIGA students, welcome to Keio SFC! We are the campus media club (circle), SFC CLIP. Everything regarding this website, from articles to server management, is written and operated by students. We are open to all students, regardless of student year or Japanese/English ability. We are actively looking for people interested in journalism (either in English or Japanese), photography, or web design/development.

Who is SFC CLIP?

SFC CLIP initially started as a project in a seminar; however, we are currently a circle. Every Friday, members gather in SFC to edit and publish articles, eat snacks, and have fun.

What you can do at SFC CLIP: Text・Interview・Writing

SFC CLIP is the direct result of the collaboration between our writers, photographers, and programmers. The text provides written content to inform the reader, the photography adds colorful visual appeal to an article, and our website delivers the content to the reader.

Members can work in any area that suits them. We encourage you to expand your skills. If you are not confident in your abilities, don’t worry! Our senior members are able and willing to teach you everything you need to know to get started.

・Text

The text for SFC CLIP articles is written in three steps: interview, writing, and proofreading.

Interview
The interview is the main source of information for an article. We interview at a variety of places, including SFC, SFC events(Tanabata-sai, Aki Matsuri, ORF), and facilities around SFC. We interview students, professors, and graduate students to hear their stories and gather information to use in our articles.

Writing
After successfully interviewing a subject, we can begin writing the article. It is important to have the reader in mind constantly, since it is important to express your thoughts in a structured way that enables the reader to receive information accurately. Through this process, you can improve your writing skills.

Proofreading
SFC CLIP strives to be an online media platform that accurately conveys information; therefore, proofreading is critical to our mission. Written articles are proofread by the head editor or the assistant editor and are checked by other circle members to ensure writing is accurate and easy to understand. Our weekly Friday meetings are generally devoted to the proofreading and editing process. During this process, you might even discover new literary phrases!

Once the proofreading process is completed, an article’s next and final step is publication!

・Photography

We believe that photographs greatly enhance the reader’s experience by adding depth and providing clarity to the reader. All photographs on our website are taken by SFC CLIP members. If you want to take photos for SFC CLIP, our senior members can help you improve your photography techniques, regardless of your experience level. Come master the art of photography with us!

・Technology

SFC CLIP is powered by our website, which is supported by our programmers. The site design, article editor, and server maintenance are all handled by our members. Being a media platform, SFC CLIP can’t exist without information technology. We are actively seeking new tech crew members and programmers! If you have any interest in programming, please let us know! We welcome everyone, regardless of programming background or prior experience.
